Well, the day before yesterday bail for Rex Archer was reduced to $100,000, and the former Yuba County supervisor candidate, charged with sexually abusing two girls, could be released from custody by Monday after filing a property bond according to the local paper. (Appeal Democrat) Archer's lawyer, Donald Wahlberg, asked the judge to release him on on his own recognizance. The Probation Department recommended that his bail be reduced from $500,000 to $200,000. I guess the judge decided to split the difference between what the lawyer asked for and what the Probation Department asked for. There are still protective orders in place ordering Mr. Archer not to contact the victims.
The prehearing conference is now set for March 7th. So, for now, Mr. Archer is still in the jail over in Colusa.
